In 1926, some time after moving to Lebanon, my grandfather went traveling in the Middle East. This photo album is the trace of his journey, which took him across Lebanon and Syria, through the cities of Beirut, Tripoli, Homs and Latakia, the ruins of Baalbek, Palmyra and the Crusader castles. Almost a century later, I sought to retrace this course, starting from the apartment where my father grew up in Beirut all the way to Mosul, Iraq, for a journey into the ruins of history
